Facts about Fae
✦ There are no Fae's older than 400 year old. Ravenhurst has a special draw to the Fae as it helps them learn abilities at a faster rate. In Ravenhurst a Wilder fae (0-299 years) or an older fae will have the same amount of powers.

The Silence
All supernaturals in Ravenhurst hide what they are from the humans. If exposed to the human world pitchforks and riots will ensue. The Supernatural Council holds authority in this matter and will final the say if the silence is broken. Therefore if a vampire is found guilty of breaking the silence by showing any acts of supernatural ability in the public view, they could risk or death. (Remember there are human NPCS all over Ravenhurst in the public places.)
Abilities
Default Abilities
Speed and Strength ( Four times that of a peak human)
Fae DECEPTION: is the ability to use glamour to hide your true appearance. This is a must for all Fae of Ravenhurst as all supernaturals must hide their “true” self from everyone. Using this ability burns up glamour. All Fae have this ability.
When glamoured, they appear completely human, often assuming identities that most fit with their personalities. While the image is practically flawless, the ability to function and act exactly as a human would is imperfect, which often leads people to think they are odd or off in some way that they can’t quite put their finger on. This power will also allow a fae to blend in with their surroundings. Fae can change their skin color to match any living thing. For example in the woods if a Fae is trying to hide, they can lean against a tree and will appear to be part of a tree much like a chameleon. This only works against living things. This will not allow you to shift into an animal or change your body into a flower. If you are touching a flower you can turn green but you wouldn't blend in with the flower as you would be a little big.
Enhancement of feelings ( Does not work on Demons or vampires)
Fae are able to enhance peoples emotions. This is used to help increase the emotions so they may feed off. This act is done by manipulating their glamour and pushing it toward the person they want to feed off of. A Fae's power allows them to only to do one person at a time.
Change of Face
As the fae use glamour to produce a human look they may change their human appearance every two weeks. This changes is when the fae wants to looks completely different. Minor changes such as only hair color can be done on a more regular basis.
The look that is constantly used becomes comfortable with the Fae and is easier to hold up as time goes on. For a Fae to change up their entire appearance using glamour they must build up their glamour to do so. Remember that Ravenhurst is a small town, there are people that will know you. If you change your appearance fully then you will need another name to protect the Silence.
Using your abilities
✦ To use an ability it will take 2 posts. Once gathering the glamour then using the ability
✦ Limitations in ability: Use of other supernatural abilities may cause their glamour illusion to flicker, or in some cases disappear altogether. This must be taken into account when attempting to use other supernatural abilities. Other factors may cause this ability to weaken, such as: strong emotions, injury, being knocked unconscious. (You run the risk of revealing your true self.)
✦ A Fae can recharge by returning to the Fae Realm to soak in the glamour pool. A Fae may also feed off emotions however if he/she is has used to much glamour, they will lose their ability for Fae Deception and run the risk of breaking the silence.
✦ Fae learned along time ago that on the island of Ravenhurst they could develop their abilities much more quickly than in other locations on Earth. Age wasn't as important, however it did require practice and with Ravenhurst being a very small town the island made a good place to learn those skills. Those that tried to learn too quickly found that the glamour overdose caused a complete shut down in their powers. Depending on the severity this could render a Fae with powerless for a decade or more. The Fae start with two abilities and would master them before taking a third. This may take anywhere from six month to two years depending on how dedicated they were at developing their skills.

Perhaps as an adaptation to such a strange world, all Fae have an affinity for one of the four elements of nature: fire, water, wind, earth. Each Fae is able to manipulate their chosen element to effect the environment surrounding them. Depending on the strength of the Fae, the impact of their elemental magic varies. As this manipulation uses up valuable glamour, it is generally used sparingly and efficiently. (The elemental usage must be reasonable-no fae can cause earthquakes, tsunamis, or tornadoes on their own.)

Accelerated healing, except from wounds from cold iron, lemon juice or from claws/teeth of other supernaturals. This doesn't mean instant healing, they will feel pain but the injury will heal in a few hours versus a few days.
Most Fae can recover from all wounds except stabbing or shooting through the heart or removal of the head.

Flaws
Lemons or lemon juice is a weakness of all Fae. The best example of this would be the caustic effect of acid thrown on the skin. This will leave a permanent scar and if enough is used it will cause the death of the Fae.
Cold Iron - some even may have the weakness of lead as well. Fae's have a strong allergic reaction to Iron. To them iron may smell like rotten eggs, cause headaches and if they are cut with iron, it burns as well as slices. Cold Iron is one of the few weapons that a Fae cannot heal completely from and will leave a scar.

The Fae Realm
Fae Realm
All Fae or Faerie are creatures that come from another realm. Their ancient fore-bearers, having learned how to slip from one dimensional reality to another, spread their seed far and wide throughout all the known worlds. While much of this knowledge has been lost, the Fae of the present still have preserved certain tricks and useful ancient knowledge. Fae are immortal but not invulnerable; they can be killed or die from disease as easily as any other living creature. They venture to the human plane for many different reasons, boredom from eternity, plain curiosity, or a fascination with humanity. Whatever the reason, the Fae are in this world; all types, sizes and sides of the court. Fae are the closest thing to an extraterrestrial there is on Earth as they are not of this world.
Only Fae can enter the Fae realm freely; all others races must be with a Fae or risk being lost between the two worlds forever.
In the Fae realm, there are two factions or Courts. The Courts represent the light Fae and the Dark Fae, Seelie and Unseelie respectively. ( see character traits for more information on Seelie and Unseelie) The seasons will determine the type of Fae that is in charge of the Fae Realm. Summer and Spring the realm is under the control of the Seelie, while in fall and winter the Unseelie reign. The realm remains open to the both courts all year. Neither race can prevent the other from coming back in during their reign, however they do get control of the others brought into the Fae realm and represent the Fae in the Supernatural Council.
The food in the Fae realm is potentially hazardous to those not of Fae blood. If a human, witch, or werewolf eat any of the food while in the Fae realm they will not want to leave the realm. In many cases, the Fae will just keep them there as entertainment. However, if they decide to return the human, the person will ache and yearn to return to the realm. As long as they are with a Fae, their mind is at ease. However, if the fae leaves them, the despair and need to return will slowly drive the person crazy.
In the Fae realm aging slows for all races that do age. The Fae however age differently. Once they reach a certain age (100 to 150 years), they stop physically aging at a discernible rate. There is hardly a visible difference between a young Fae and one thousands of years old, aside from knowledge and experience

While they have the distinct ability to sense glamour and can often see things that slip through other planes of existence due to their not being of Earth, Fae do not perceive the world much different than a human being. The energy from glamour is itself, alien, and the ability to absorb and shape it is inborn and visceral. There are two Courts of Fae Seelie and Unseelie. In choosing a Fae character you will need to decide which court to fall under. Seelie Court While often characterized by outsiders and even inexperienced kinfolk as the "good" court, the Seelie Court is really defined by the virtues of honor and love. Seelie Fae are more likely to be helpful and benevolent towards humans; they are associated with the Light. Some Seelie Fae are indeed silly and blissed out presenting the stereotypical image of a fairy, but others are far more solemn and obsessed with honor. Seelie glamour is generally bright, and can make humans and other supernaturals feel punch-drunk, uninhibited, and blissfully happy. ✦ Death before dishonor. ✦ Love conquers all. ✦ Beauty is life. ✦ Never forget a debt. Unseelie Many Seelie fae and other supernaturals see the Unseelie Court as somehow evil, but this description is far too simple. Unseelie Changelings embrace change and sneer at tradition, seeing no special tie to their past. The Unseelie way is passionate and pragmatic, satisfying desire and need alike; the Unseelie deny themselves nothing. Unseelies would rather hurt humans than help them if given the choice (though 'do nothing' is always an option). Receiving an Unseelie's glamour leaves humans and other supers feeling a whirlwind of emotions; fear, anger, arousal, sorrow are possibilities. ✦ Change is good. ✦ Glamour is free. ✦ Honor is a lie. ✦ Passion before duty. |
Appearance
Human Form- Your character should be in modern day human form. Note that if you make your avatar to short and he or she looks like a child, you will need to change the shape. Fae Form- When the Fae get a chance to drop their glamour and appear in their true form, they do. The Fae Realm (Cave) and in the Black Market give them the opportunity to do that. There is no standard in how a Fae should look in their true form. There are only a few things that is asked when making your Fae Form: Watch the script count! Wings, horns moving tails they may have high script counts. To keep down lag do you best to keep you script count below 40. This will help with keeping lag down on the sim. Having a Pixie as your form is acceptable. Unseelie Fae tend to be dark and not as attractive as Seelie due to their nature. The Fae form should resemble that of a human. Four legged animals, Mythological beings such as a Dragon, Unicorn, or a Robotic body is not permitted. Your Fae form must be able walk on two legs and be able to speak. The Fae Form is fleshy and corporal. If you fight in Fae form someone can hit you.

Brownies tend to the mundane workforce, unskilled workers in blue collar trades such as handymen, maids and servants, servers or kitchen staff in restaurants. Brownies may become fixated on someone and sneak into their house at night to look after it, do small chores, such as darning, cleaning, tending any animals they may have and tending to any repairs. They will take small amounts of milk and some sweets after they have completed their nightly visit. If the Brownie hears in passing any criticizing of their work they will immediately stop the aid for that person and turn their visits into a more darker or opposite one than previous.
They are great listeners, and can often persuade people in conversation to tell them some of their most protected secrets. They have a problem telling the truth though. The truth simply isn't interesting to a phooka, and they feel that they must always improve on it in some way. It wouldn't be an out and out lie, more like exaggerating on the truth.
Sidhe generally have been considered royalty in the fae world, which gives some the air of arrogance or that they look down their noses at non sidhe, including humans and other supernaturals, though this does not have to be the case. Those that have lived outside the Fae realm for long periods have tended to drop this level of behavior. They do however command attention when they walk into any place public, because even their glamoured self tends to be beautiful to those that see them, so they do tend to use that to their advantage. They tend to overindulge is the pleasures of life, wine, women and song to quote common sayings. It is extremely hard to embarrass or cause fear to a sidhe. Generally Fae work with the public and in non-menial jobs.
These fae exist to strike fear into the hearts of wrongdoers, children in particular. The sluagh are often tolerated by other fae only for the knowledge and secrets that they so prize. They deal in secrets, spying, listening in on conversations, skulking through the dark places that most dare not to tread. You will never hear a sluagh shouting or rambunctious.

Brownies have extreme endurance, they can work at a task for hours and not feel the effect of the work. As well they have inhuman fine motor skills, thread a needle without looking at it, fix something like a watch with ease. They are tinkers and have the ability to fix about any thing that is mechanical.
Phookas can shape shift into the animal that they are tied to and have the general physical abilities of that creature.
Limits: Wolves, animals not indigenous to the area (no tigers) are not allowed. Any large animal shift will need approval from a moderator. The Sidhe are so graceful and dexterous. They have the ability to move without making a sound unless he/she wants to be heard.
They are able to escape from practically any bonds, other than cold iron, and can contort themselves into disquieting shapes. They have incredibly keen senses and are able to see through illusions.

Examples of what these four Fae may look like:
✿ Brownies
Fae form: Shaggy-looking creatures with wrinkled brown skin, a deformed nose that is more like nostrils against the skin rather than an actual nose. They are short in stature, with slightly pointed ears and yet, long nimble fingers. Generally they would dress similar to homeless or destitute.
✿ Phookas
Fae Form: The shape changing tricksters. All phooka are tied to a specific type of animal, and in their fae form will have aspects of that animal (whiskers, scales, feathers, ears, tails, etc.). They are able to shape change into that animal, if unobserved.
✿ Sidhe (pronounced 'shee')
Fae Form: Sidhe usually are marked with triple irises and bright glowing skin. They also have tapering pointed ears, fine angular features, thin, bordering on androgynous, long flowing hair that may be in unusual colors. They are super humanly beautiful, and able to strike awe into the hearts of enemies.
✿ Sluagh (The Host)
Fae Form: A more gruesome version of the sidhe, sluagh are thin and pale and smelling of death and decay. They will have black colorless eyes, hair that seems unkempt, pointed ears and their dress tends to the macabre.
Effects on Non-Fae
Faes enhance the emotions of the humans around them so that they can feed upon the energy. Being not of this world, the Fae themselves tend to generate a larger than life presence in their human form, yet not much different from recognizable feelings they've experienced in other humans. The Seelie Fae give off a soothing, calming presence, not unlike an extremely talented politician or salesman. The Unseelie Fae give off a "creepy old man feel", often times enough to send a shiver down someone's spine. This presence they give off can be stronger or weaker, depending on the Fae's feelings at the time. For example: If an Unseelie Fae is just having a relaxed conversation, the person will feel uneasy and awkward during the exchange. However, if the Unseelie is angry or in a defensive posture, a person will feel a sense of foreboding and a touch of fear just being near them.
Feeding
As mentioned, Fae are not natural to this world and require unnatural sustenance. Compatible energy that can be turned to glamour often seeps into this world from cracks in time and space resulting in sources of food. These locations, generally referred to as glamour pools, are fiercely protected to the death by the Fae that possess the locations, against strangers and even other unknown Fae alike.
As these locations are rare, the Fae have evolved another method for maintaining themselves, which is by an unusual process involving a natural source, humans. Fae have developed the ability to feeding off human emotion and convert it glamour. Because of this symbiotic nature between human and Fae, the Fae often find themselves caught up in the fate of humanity.
Favorite types of humans for Fae's to feed off of:
Seelie - Dreamers - A Fae may target an individual, typically a human, but not absolutely, and garner glamour from them via their dreams, and inspirations. A dreamer is often young, idealistic, artistic, and passionate. Often the more aged a creature is, the more jaded they become, therefore with some exception, vampires typically do not serve as well.
Unseelie Fae will typically be attracted to nightmares and dark, brooding artists.
Seelie - A couple very much in love
Unseelie - heartbroken person
Romance - Whether directly, via a brief and torrid fling, or more indirectly, by proximity to a smitten individual or couple, sex and romance create glamour that can be drawn on. This is dependent on a Fae’s nature. An embittered or haunting unseelie is less likely to be interested in this method.
Atmospheric Environs - Some environments themselves are enriched with energy that can easily be converted to glamour. Examples of these would be places of unspoiled nature, an art gallery; or for the unseelie, perhaps an old crypt, or an eerie abandoned house, a source of fear, sadness, or nightmares, over the ages.
Reaving - A Fae has the ability to literally suck the glamour from a dreamer. Not unlike a vampire draining their victim dry, while replenishing their glamour reserves, the atrocious action does not go without consequence. Their victim will be left feeling highly anxious and distraught, devoid of inspiration and imaginative ability. This might lead to feelings of madness, or acts of desperation. This method has been favored by some of the Unseelie, but as it causes alarm, is harshly frowned upon by the Fae community.

Those that fought against the ancients often worked alongside witches to help protect the facade. With their natural talent of illusion by using glamour, they were able to combine that with the power of the witches spellcraft to mask most of the large battles from the human world.
When it was all over and the ancients had been sent away, most were content to head back to their glades and interdimensional pockets to rest and heal. Their population, already sharply dwindling due to their nature, was now at dangerously low levels and it all they could do to maintain their own society. Even the ones that had fought alongside the ancient took refuge and attempted to slowly integrate themselves back into fairy culture. While there were bitter feelings and many acts of revenge between the Fae houses, survival of their kind was more important.
The time following the end of the war for the Fae was eventually known as "The Winnowing," and for nearly six months most fae were nowhere to be found, busy rebuilding what was left of their alliances and courts. When they finally emerged, having brought some order back to their society, they easily made the decision to join the hastily formed Supernatural Councils in order to be more prepared for the next disaster.

Fae Noble House
The Fae are not only divided in the Fae Realm by the two courts, but by Fae Noble Houses.
Requirements for a Fae Clan or Noble House:
✦ 4 active members and a leader (Active means: role-playing at least 1 or 2 days a week on sim)
✦ The Head of the Clan is chosen by members of the group
Why be in a Noble House?
✦ Security (strength in numbers), Safety, Reassurance, Unity.
✦ Those in a Noble House will be able to have their voice in matters that involve the Fae in the Ravenhurst area
✦ Members of a Noble House are respected among the Fae community
Head of a Fae Noble House Requirements
✦ Must be an active player (roleplaying at least twice a week on sim)
✦ Must have a Clan of 5 or more and be willing to continue to grow it

If the Head of the Fae Noble House goes missing without informing the Moderators or making arrangements with their House members to continue playing in their absence, the Moderator may choose to allow his/her House to pick a new House leader. If the Missing leader returns they will be allowed to return to the Fae Noble House however they will lose the perks that they did gain with that position.
Benefits of the Head of a Fae House
✦ The Fae chosen as head gains a mental link with the other four ( or more) members of the group.
✦ The Head of the house serves on the Fae Court for the Ravenhurst area, giving his/her a control and say in the decisions being made.
To clarify, this power helps you find them and will give you an idea of their mental state; it does not give specifics as to what is happening with the Fae.
This also allows the leader to send out a summons in the form psychic link to his followers should he want them at his side. They cannot sense their leader unless specifically summoned. This is only used for summoning, the leaders and Fae cannot communicate through this link.

✦ Those in a Noble House will be able to have their voice in matters that involve the Fae in the Ravenhurst area

To encourage roleplay on the sim we are offering ways to increase you character's skill.
How to earn the skills?
1. Choose a task.
2. Roleplay.
3. Copy scene and paste it on forum.
4. Contact an Inspired when task have been completed.
5. The Moderator then will approve your new skill.
Tasks to choose from:
✦ Building a Fae Noble house.
✦ Roleplaying recharging 5 times in the glamour pool.
✦ Hold court for the Fae.
✦ Reach out to new players and include them in roleplay three times.
✦ Practices using the animation power three different times.
✦ If you teleport on three different days then .
✦ Roleplay practicing any of your other abilities three different times.
The perks to choose from:
Psychic Abilities After two months of roleplay an Active player will be allowed to choose one ability to add to their skill set.
Reminder practice makes perfect... so they say so regardless of age you should be practicing using. They are learned and honed even if inert.
✦Teleportation - get from place to place in the blink of an eye. To do this expels alot of glamour from a Fae. They may only use this power twice in a 24 hour period. ( When Teleporting into a scene, the player is required to send an im to a person already involved in the scene and will need to wait three post rounds before posting themselves. If the seen is a private scene, please respect the players to ask before jumping in on them. ( Fae will have to recharge that day)
✦ Enamouring - The Fae may to take control over a person by pushing their glamour on them through their body fluids. This will cause a person to blindly worship them. For a person to become fully enamored they must be expose to the Fae's power three different times, each time the bond between the two gets stronger. The person they have enamored will do anything for that fae. (see supporting roles for more information)
✦ Mental Link - Ability to mentally link with anyone they wish. This allows the Fae to try and manipulate a person or send a message ( near or at great distances ) This uses a lot of glamour, so the link will only hold for five minutes at a time and can only be used twice a day. (Fae must recharge that day)
✦ Animation - The Fae may turn an inanimate object into living, moving creature. The Fae uses glamour to shift a portion of their essence into an object. This requires a huge amount of glamour so the fae will have to recharge after creating the animated creature before doing any other glamour related activities. The object will be alive as long as the Fae is within 20 meters of it. If they Fae has left the area the object will stay alive for 10 minutes or three post rounds. The object basically becomes acts like a mini form of them. (The Fae may also want to take the item they animated) If it is destroyed, it temporarily weakens the Fae until the energy is absorbed back into themselves again. (Full rp day)
✦ Misdirection - Make a person completely disoriented and lost. This allows the Fae to distort a person's sense of direction even if it is a place they are completely familiar with. If they attempt to use technology or a map to help them, the power muddles the mind and keeps them from being able to interpret the data. Once completely confused, the Fae can shift the power to lead the victim in a specific direction. The Fae must be within 50 yards of the target and able to either see or hear their location.
✦ Luminescence - The gift of light - possessed by those thought of as pixies, sprites, and will-o'-the-wisps. You can cause your hands to become bioluminous, giving off enough light (of whatever color) to see in the darkness. This is active for up to 24 hours.
