The Silence
All supernaturals in Ravenhurst hide what they are from the humans. If exposed to the human world pitchforks and riots will ensue. The Supernatural Council holds authority in this matter and will final the say if the silence is broken. Therefore if a werewolf is found guilty of breaking the silence by showing any acts of supernatural ability or form in the public view, they could risk facing exile or death. (Remember there are human NPCS all over Ravenhurst in the public places.)
Abilities
Default Abilities
Strength
Four times that of a peak human ( similar to vampire).
Sense
Supernaturals that hang toward the evil side such as Vampires and Unseelie or even a human serial killer. In fact depending on how evil these creatures are the demons can find themselves drawn to them just to experience those dark moments. This does not mean they will know the race of the evil they are drawn to.
Change of Appearance
Every 2 weeks ( roleplay weeks, meaning you have to actually be roleplaying), a demon may change their human host; taking on an entirely different form and personality. Taking care of your human hosts body is the only way to keep it longer.

Special Abilities
Darkness
✦ This ability allows the demon to bring on a veil of darkness.
✦ This power takes two post to work. The demon has an a mark/tattoo/brand that doesn't show through the human form. To activate this power the demon has to put pressure on where the mark is.
(If it is on your arm, you just press into it. The mark is not visible on the human body)
✦ Two post: The first post is activating the power. The second post is the darkness taken over the space.
✦ The darkness takes over just the area the demon is in (20 meters) It will fill a room etc. The darkness will last two post before it dissipates.
✦ Only the demon can see through the darkness. Those supers with night-vision lose their sight as well. NO light breaks through for those three post rounds.
✦ This power can only be used twice a day and cannot be used back to back as it will cause exhaustion.
Shadow Fade
✦ This skill demon allows a to fade into the shadows. They may use this as a means to escape, or even spy. (However for it to work they most remain silent.)
✦ Again this is a brand/tattoo that is given to the demon on the demon plane. The mark is not seen on the human bodies.
✦ Two post: First post is activating the mark. The second post is fading into the shadows. If the demon is using this to spy on a person they most continue to post standing there. If you do not post you are their listening then you can't hear them.
✦ Supernaturals may get that feeling they are being watch but cannot pinpoint it. However if the demon makes any noise or moves from this position the shadow effect starts to fade.

Magic Contracts ( See Below)
Magical Contracts
A demon can choose what type of contract he/she uses. It must be stated in the post prior to the signing in what type of contract is being used for it to work. (The other player must be aware of what they are promising.)
Soul Contract:
Souls are earned through these magical contracts. Any race with a soul can sign away their soul to a demon. A demon may only offer worldly gains such as influence, money, and power. All things in the contract most be obtainable ICly. They often need something that the demon can offer them. This contract must be signed willingly in blood by the person. (If they are under any type of mind control the contract is null and void, also any spells will void this as well.) Once signed this contract is magically binding, tearing up the paper has no effect. The only way to break the contract is if the holder i.e. the demon violates his terms of service or declares it null and void. A Demon may trade this contract to another demon as form or payment if he/she wishes.
Binding Contract:
This type of contract is one that can be used on any race. Including vampires and fae (these beings have no souls). Just like the soul contract the demon will make a promise to something in which the person needs. In return the person will provide a service to the demon. This service can be anything that can be done ICly. (Killing another character is not permitted but kidnapping, beating someone etc is on the table). This contract keeps the signer loyal to the demon and will not allow them to harm or attack the demon until the contract terms are met.
Limits on the contracts:
✦ Cannot provide or give a person special abilities such as laser vision, or eternal life and are not permitted. A demon does not have the power to bestow any type of special abilities.
✦ Forcing Love - where a demon can use coercion or kidnapping of a person to provide a few wild nights of fun, they do not have the be ability to create love. In fact they don't feel love at all nor do they want to, nor can your contract make them feel love.
✦ They cannot cause the death of another character without player consent, however they can kill an NPC. If that player says no then the demon will not be able to fulfill their contract. The demon should get a players consent before the contract is written and roleplayed ICly.
Hint- If a person wants immortality and want to be turned vampire to gain it, if the demon does this he/she will not gain their soul as the person will lose their soul becoming vampire.
*It's good practice to ask about this OOCly before using this ability to make sure the player understands or it willingly before hand.

Possession
For demons to be on Earth, they must be in human bodies. These bodies are shells of the humans that gave away the soul or perhaps were at the wrong place at at the wrong time. Regardless of how they became a host for the Demons, they are at the full disposal of the Demon.
Their true form can only last a few seconds outside a human body. If a demon is expelled from a human host it most find another home or be sucked back to the demon world. As a last resort the demon may choose to jump into an inanimate object or another type of living creature. Do understand though that the demon is then restricted to the abilities of that object and or animal.
*For example if a demon jumps into a can of vegetables instead of going back to the demon world he/she can sit there like a can of vegetable. There is a small mental manipulation that will allow you to communicate with others as a can of vegetables but you are a can of vegetables.
The same is said for an animal. The demon would be limited to the abilities of that animal. Remember in being an animal though you would also be limiting your roleplay. Animals would not be allowed in places such as the bar, diner or many business. The animals can only be those indigenous to the Seattle area. Tigers and large animals such as wolves need to be approved before brought into roleplay.
The limits of these types of possession are there however, that shouldn't slow a demon down for pushing some influence over the person. A demons possession on a cat will do subtle things to slowly make the human think that the cat is good luck. Over time (this is does not happen in a day or week, it takes time) the person will start to come to rely on the animal or object. This is part of their powers that allows them to fulfill contracts.
Entering a host
The demon enters the host through their eyes, mouth, or nose. Often in the demon world the body is strapped down, without a soul they cannot fight off the demon. The demon gains the humans life experience, memories and even their skills. A human can watch what is going on but is unable to stop the demon. On occasion the demon will allow the human to peek back through. For those that see this will see a human that is confused, afraid and panicked. If the body is killed, so is the human host. The demon doesn't die.
A human with a soul can be possessed as well if they allow the demon in.
Expelling of a Demon
Demons can be expelled, through an exorcism.
The demons in Ravenhurst are not the ones from the bible, but if a person has faith that they can expel the demon. through a ceremony, then it can be done by anyone.
Supplies for expulsion:
✦ Religious artifact - cross, ankh, holy water etc. ( does not matter what religion),
✦ Faith that they can expel the demon,
✦ Ceremony in which they use to expel the demon,
✦ The demon. (within 20 meters) If the demon is not tied down more than likely he/she will run.
As demons are not really known, performing an exorcism can be dangerous. A demon that is not tied down can stop an exorcism simply by breaking the concentration of the one that is trying to perform one. This ceremony is exhausting and will take at least three post rounds for it to work. As the person tires, by the third post the person or persons (in the room) are vulnerable to possession. There is also risk of the human host being killed in the process as well.
After a Possession
The demon has been expelled and the human is still alive so what happens next?
A human that still has he/her soul is fine however they are still vulnerable to being taken over again.
The human that has given up their soul has to earn their soul back. They can only do this by making another deal with a different demon. They must give something up to gain it back. Humans that walk around without souls can't hide from demons. Demons can sense and feel if the body has a soul in it.
For those humans that are soulless and kept in the demon realm are called "The Damned". See the Supporting role section.

Flaws
✦ Pain and human bodies
Demons do feel the pain of their human host although they can tolerate more then a human, however the human bodies start to deteriorate. An injury that can break human bones or kill them causes damage to the host form. For example a human jumps from a two story window their legs break. A demon using a human body jumps they feel the pain of the breaks, but can will themselves to get up and run but they can't go forever.
✦ The Good
Displays of kindness or goodness depending on how strong the situation is can actually cause them to feel sick. Being around overly happy things is something they want to avoid. They can certainly fake it, but it is not a pleasant experience.
✦ Religious Items
These are religious artifacts of protections such as the cross or Eye of Horus are examples. You do not need to be a true believer to use them, just have them. If any of these items touch a demon it will burn them and leave scars. These artifacts are one of the only things that will not heal immediately.
✦ Salt
Allergic. If they were just a demon, it would keep them away. However, they're in a body, so they should be able to move past it.

Appearance and Charateristics For Every Demon
✦ Age
Demons are old however none in Ravenhurst are over 400 years. Anything older than would be considered an Ancient which gives that demon an automatic death sentence among supernaturals.
✦ Motivation
Main motivation is to gain power in the corporation. Every time they are promoted they become stronger. Ravenhurst is a new area for Demons and they are all wanting to gain the title Regional Branch Manager of Ravenhurst for the Corporation.
✦ Anti-hero
Demons are not heroes, they will never be knights in shining armor. Demons are all about themselves and will rarely act to help someone else there is a significant benefit to themselves. Most of the time they would just not care or prefer to enjoy the possible death.
✦ Feeding
Just like most supernaturals Demons need to feed. The souls they harvest are turned over to the Corporation, as they don't need the souls. It is the act of removing them and damage they cause in the process that feeds a Demon. A player may NPC harvesting one soul a week (He/she may venture over to Seattle to do it). This will help keep the human body up and their own strength up. Not feeding will slow your demons strength and ability by 2 times every two weeks from their last feeding. After two months the Corporation calls them back to head quarters. Most do not return.
✦ Job Preference
To keep up appearances Demons do hold jobs. Most of the jobs that Demons prefer are ones that allow them to cause chaos, despair etc. They prefer to work for credit card companies, banks, government jobs such as the DOT or IRS. They also like jobs that give them a chance to influence peoples decision such as government officials. Demons place their portals back to their realm in places they feel more comfortable. In Ravenhurst it is the Bank.
✦ Black Eyes
For the majority of the time Demons look human. Except for a few occasions, and the only hint that something is different is that their eyes will turn black. When a demon is using his/her ability, or using his/her strength or feeding. Stressful times can also cause the eyes to flicker, but they do return back to normal. Other times such as fighting or feeding the eyes will remain black until it is finished.

Human FormThis is the human look. A demon wears a skin suit in order to move about the human race undetected. The Human body will look good as long as it is taken care of. (Injuries to a human body do not heal, although the demon does.)
Demons inhabit human bodies, a possession. The human is still trapped inside the body alongside the demon, but no longer has control over the body. On rare occasions the human may come through. This happens when a demons allows that human to pop through. The human is often scared and disoriented. Healing in Human form The Demon can take up to 4 times the amount of pain a human can have, however if they are in human form, the human body is slow to heal. The more damage done to the human body, the faster the human body will begin to deteriorate. Examples: Broken leg = The demon will feel likes it is a sprain and able to run off with no problem Shattered or cut off leg = the demon could still get up and leave but would be in pain. Injuries that would cause death to a human such as a broken neck or gunshot to the head, the demon would still live. He/she would be knocked cold. If to much damage is done (enough to kill a human) or the number of severe injuries are noticeable in appearance (you have to keep up the Deception of Cover). The body will heal as if you were human, so it is important you take care of you human host body. Then you run the risk of being forced back to the corporation for a new body. This means you are down 24 hours in roleplay. |
Demon FormWhen the Demons get a chance to hang up their skin suits they do. In the Demon Lair and in the Black Market give them the opportunity to that. There is no standard in how a demon should look in their true form. There are only a few things that is asked when making your Demon Form
Watch the script count. Wings, horns moving tails they may have high script counts. To keep down lag do your best to keep you script count below 40. This will help with keeping lag down on the sim. (If you want to know your script count, on firestorm you can right click yourself and on the pie menu hit "script info" and in local it will tell you of your script usage.) The Demon form should resemble that of a human. Four legged animals, Mythological beings such as a Dragon, Unicorn, Minotaur or a Robotic body is not permitted. Your demon form must be able walk on two legs and be able to speak. The Demon Form is fleshy and corporal If you fight in Demon form someone can hit you. The Demon Appearance doesn't give you extra powers Wings - do not mean you can fly Skin Types - do mean you can take a harder hit Healing in Demon Form Demons heal faster than a human but do not heal instantly. The more severe the wound is the longer it will take to heal. If salt or a religious symbol is used against them. The healing will not be fast. The healing isn't instant and wounds will still cause pain. They will be healed however in about 12 hours from the time of injury. |
HAVESTING SOULS
Harvesting Soul Facts
✦ Souls are harvested through the Soul contract.
✦ Once the contract has been signed, it is binding. The paper cannot be torn up or destroyed.
✦ The contract can only be broken if the demon doesn't fill his/her end or magical intervention.
✦ It takes a full 30 days after the contract has been made for the human's soul to be fully taken from them.
There are two ways in which a person can get free of the contract
The demon doesn't deliver on his/her end of the deal
Or the human can figure out something else the demon may want
The contract does not create a slave to the demon (unless that is what is in the contract), however the victims with or without souls will see the demon as a friend and will feel the need to protect him/her.
The Effects on the Victims
Demons love creating chaos and suffering. In fact it gives them a feeling of being high, so when taking a soul it does just that cause chaos and suffering.
Those with Souls
Humans, Witches and Wolves. If you have a soul then they you have what the demons want. Stealing your souls allows them to stay in the human realm. Unless a demon tells you that he/she is a demon you will not know they are. The contract that they give you to sign would be like any million things you have signed before. The contracts will last a minimum of five weeks and at the end of the five weeks (real life time) the soul is the demons.
The effects of losing a soul is a slow process. So the changes in the victim will be slow. The Victim gets the choice of how it effects them. The Victim chooses one of the following emotions to act on.
Fear - lack of sleep due to nightmares, overly paranoid, jumpy.
Nihilism - no longer caring, will feel they can do whatever they want to without consequence.
Greed - What you want is what you want and you will try to get it at any means.
Anger/ hate - It starts off with little things that annoy you and gets worse.
Feelings such as love, happiness, kindness or any feeling that leads to happy will change to one of ambivalence. Love ones and friends will begin to no longer matter. The longer a person is without a soul, the more they will pull away from their old life.
All of these can lead to violence or self-destruction. In the end the person will see the demon as their only true friend, even if the demon is encouraging the behavior. The victim doesn't see the change however their friends do.

The Corporation
So little is known about these vile creatures. History would tell you they are angels who fell from heaven. In other lores they are lost souls seeking their final resting place. Myths and legends will tell you demons rise from the darkest depths of despair plague and destroy.
The demons that entered earth during the catharsis, slipped in during a blood moon, were the moon seems to bleed red and the stars fail to shine around it. These demons take on a human host. These demons managed to find a home in a place called the Corporation. While this shadowy organization has many names and subsidiaries, those in the know refer to it simply as the Corporation. Only the demons know about it existence even the oldest vampire have never seen or heard of it. Those that are brought into the Corporation don't return. The once mission of all demons is to spread evil and chaos among the humans in an attempt to take control over them.
The Corporation has been around for several thousand years. It has been called different names. Taking on the identity of an actual corporation sometime in the 17th century, it has evolved and mutated over the past several hundred years into it's current state. Those that had the most greed would be recruited. The Corporation is in control of the all the gateways from the demon realm to the human realm. The energy from the souls is the what keeps the gateways into the human world open.
Demons prefer to be in the human realm as it allows them to cause, pain, fear chaos and spread evil. Demons relish the times these can be done.
Every Demon works for the Corporation in some capacity. There is an complex hierarchy within the Corporation. The CEO of the Corporation is a mystery to even it's employees. All but the *highest ranking demons do not understand the inner workings of the company, and none may ever visit the CEO unless summoned directly. The orders are passed down through the ranks and delivered to the lower levels. Demons are expected to fill their quota of souls each year. Those that don't meet them are forced back to the demon realm. Many are then tortured or forced into slavery within the demon realm.
As an incentive to the demons, the Corporation not only keeps the gateway open to the human world but also provides the Demons an endless number of bodies to inhabit if their host body is destroyed. These bodies are often humans that have been taken to the demon realm after losing their souls. Many of the these humans are called "The Damned", will serve the demons in the demon realm until their bodies are needed for use.
The Corporation is so big that a Demon could branch out on his or her own, however if the Corporation feels that this demon is going against the Corporations wishes or soul gathering then the demon is in danger of being pulled back to the demon world or killed. There is no place for a demons to hide from the Corporation for to long as the demons are everywhere. When demons are being hunted the other demons have no issue with turning them in even if they are close for those that harbor the wanted Demon could find themselves facing the same fate.
When a demon is killed he/she is returned to Corporation to plead their case. The Current President then gives them the chance to plead their case. If the President feel they are worthy they may be returned to fight another day however if they are deemed unworthy then they do not return.

The Corporation Hierarchy
Although most Demons prefer to work alone, they have also learned that they can gain more power and influence working as small teams. These teams are branches of the Corporation. The teams don't necessarily hunt together, but will pull their resources to be the group that harvests the most souls. If a team has proven well they move up to the next level in the Corporation and become the Regional Branch Managers
To establish a Branch:
✦ There needs to be 4 active members and the leader (on sim at least once or twice a week).
✦ Use of the whole sim for roleplay (this is to encourage roleplay make sure you move about the sim).
Benefits of being in a Branch:
✦ Your Demon may claim 3 NPC victims each month (Using Ravenhurst and in Seattle).
✦ Gives your group a louder voice in the Demon community.
✦ After three months of roleplay the group may step up a tier in the Corporation. (Active roleplay ICly and on the forums is a must for the next tier to be established.)
Choosing a Branch Manager:
✦ Must be in a Branch that has 4 active members.
✦ The Group chooses their leader.
Requirements of Being Branch Manager:
✦ Must be an active player (On sim once or twice a week to Roleplay).
✦ Must have a Branch of 4 or more and be willing to continue to grow it.
✦ Run events for his/her Branch once a month such as a Board Meeting.
✦ Seek out and help Demons on the sim.
✦ Participate and Encourage The Branch, to not only rp with just the Branch but with the rest of the sim.
✦ Branch Manager will be held accountable for being an active roleplayer. If the Branch goes missing without informing the Moderators or making arrangements with their branch members to continue playing in their absence, the Moderator may choose to allow his/her Branch to pick a new branch Manager. If the Missing Manager returns they will be allowed to return to the play however they will lose the perks that they did gain with that position.
Perks of Being the Branch Manager:
✦ The man or woman in charge.
✦ Add a plus one to a dice roll match giving you a +4.
✦ Decision maker within the Branch.
✦ He/she will be the representative the Branch as a member of the *Demon Council once it is formed.
✦ Gains more influence and notoriety in town among city officials.
✦ The manager will have the power to take over a underlings contract.
(*Once there is more that one Branch on the Sim the Demon Council will form. The leaders from each Branch will serve on it. The Leader of the First Branch will get the choice of being head of the council. The Demon Council will be the ones that settle conflict within their own race).

Demons Now
During the Purge of 2012, the demons had a banner year. Taking great delight in playing each side against each other, and profiting in countless souls for their master. Never actually taking sides, they pragmatically used the chaos and violence to continue to further their ends. Once the ancients had been sent back, they found themselves in an even greater position than before. Many of their competitors in both the human and supernatural world had been severely weakened or destroyed.
The Corporation, in all it's hydra like tendrils, arose the one entity in the world that could be counted on to make the trains run on time and supply all the starving masses. Acting as part of one of the many arms of the Corporation, any demons being sent to Ravenhurst would be acting in their company's business; acquiring power and souls. Due to the strange, mystical nature of the massive rift existing within the island, it is a major hub of the supernatural world, attracting powerful and influential types. Exactly the type of place a demon could really make it's mark.
